Principal Architect

Why This Role?
OrbitronAI is building NovaOS — a production-grade agentic operating system deployed inside some of the world's largest enterprises.
We already have dedicated leadership for the NovaOS platform. This role exists to ensure that everything built on top of NovaOS — enterprise applications, agentic workflows, customer-specific solutions, reusable product modules, and domain applications — is architected to production-grade standards.
As Principal Architect — NovaOS Applications & Agentic Systems, you will be the right hand to the Head of Platform and the CTO's go-to technical authority for application development on NovaOS. You will translate NovaOS platform capabilities into scalable, secure, multi-tenant, enterprise-ready applications.
This is not a governance-only role and not a pure platform-infrastructure role. You will design, review, and help ship real product architecture across full-stack applications, agentic workflows, RAG, enterprise integrations, evaluation, deployment, and operational readiness.
The role demands equal depth in enterprise-grade full-stack product engineering and production AI/agentic systems. Candidates who are strong in only one of these areas will not be the right fit.
What You Will Own
NovaOS Application Architecture
Architect production-grade applications built on top of NovaOS.
Define reusable application patterns for NovaOS: frontend-to-agent flows, backend-for-frontend patterns, domain services, agent orchestration, RAG and memory usage, workflow execution, audit trails, and human-in-the-loop review.
Partner with the Head of Platform to ensure application requirements are correctly mapped to NovaOS platform capabilities such as execution gateway, LLM gateway, MCP gateway, identity/RBAC, memory services, evaluation, observability, and deployment pipelines.
Serve as the CTO's go-to architect for major application design decisions, customer solution architecture, technical trade-offs, and production readiness reviews.
Prevent every product team from inventing its own architecture by creating common patterns, reference implementations, and engineering standards for building on NovaOS.
Identify gaps between application needs and platform capabilities, and work with the Head of Platform to convert them into clear platform requirements.
Full-Stack Product Architecture
Design and evolve enterprise-grade application services using Java/Spring Boot, Go where relevant, React/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, and cloud-native infrastructure.
Own API design, service boundaries, domain modelling, data flows, integration patterns, and application-level scalability.
Ensure applications are scalable, observable, secure, cost-aware, and maintainable as customer usage grows.
Define what 10x growth means architecturally for NovaOS applications and guide teams toward that future state.
Work closely with product, engineering, platform, and customer-facing teams to convert ambiguous enterprise requirements into concrete technical designs.
Make pragmatic build-vs-buy decisions across application services, AI workflows, data pipelines, integration layers, and operational tooling.
AI & Agentic Application Architecture
Design multi-agent application workflows using planner-executor patterns, agent teams, durable workflows, memory/RAG layers, tool access, and human approval gates.
Define how applications use LLMs in production: model selection, grounding, latency, cost, fallback behavior, safety, evaluation, and observability.
Own RAG and document intelligence patterns for applications: ingestion, chunking, embeddings, retrieval quality, citations, access control, and tenant isolation.
Design agent-to-tool interaction through governed MCP patterns, including permission boundaries, auditability, versioning, service discovery, and enterprise system integration.
Build evaluation-driven application release patterns: test suites, quality gates, shadow testing, regression checks, safety checks, hallucination checks, and production telemetry feedback loops.
Establish application-level patterns for prompt injection mitigation, grounding, PII handling, model access control, and safe tool usage.
Ensure agentic workflows are reliable, explainable, testable, auditable, and operationally supportable in enterprise environments.
Enterprise Integration & Deployment
Architect reliable integrations with customer systems such as ERPs, CRMs, document stores, internal APIs, enterprise data platforms, and industrial systems.
Design integration patterns that make unreliable external systems reliable through retries, queues, reconciliation, idempotency, observability, and failure recovery.
Work with platform and DevOps/SRE teams to ensure applications can be deployed across cloud, BYOC, and on-prem environments where required.
Ensure application architecture respects enterprise requirements around RBAC, data segregation, auditability, observability, performance, privacy, regulatory controls, and operational support.
Partner with customer-facing teams on enterprise solution architecture, especially where application design must align with customer security, data, and deployment constraints.
Technical Leadership
Partner with the Head of Platform, CTO, engineering managers, and senior ICs to review architecture proposals and raise technical quality.
Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers on application architecture, agentic design patterns, enterprise integration, and production AI engineering.
Set and enforce engineering standards across NovaOS application teams.
Reduce time-to-ship by creating reusable patterns without compromising reliability, security, or customer trust.
Drive clarity in ambiguous situations and convert high-level product or customer asks into executable technical direction.
Act as a technical multiplier across product engineering, AI engineering, platform, and customer delivery teams.
Requirements
12+ years in software engineering, with at least 4 years in a Principal, Staff, Architect, or senior technical leadership role at a product/platform company.
Strong full-stack architecture depth: Java/Spring Boot backend, React/TypeScript frontend, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, and production-grade API/service design.
Ability to review, influence, and shape Java/Spring Boot services is required.
Proven experience designing and shipping enterprise SaaS or platform-based applications used by real customers in production.
Production AI/agentic systems experience: RAG pipelines, LLM-integrated applications, multi-agent workflows, tool use, memory, evaluation, and safety patterns.
Strong understanding of application architecture on top of a platform: how to use platform capabilities without duplicating platform concerns.
Experience with agent orchestration or workflow systems such as Temporal, LangGraph, n8n, or equivalent DAG/orchestration stacks.
Strong enterprise integration experience: APIs, CRMs, ERPs, document systems, internal tools, and unreliable external systems.
Strong understanding of RBAC, multi-tenancy, data segregation, auditability, observability, and enterprise security requirements.
Experience designing systems where latency, cost, scale, reliability, and correctness are explicit architectural concerns.
Ability to partner with platform leadership rather than compete with it — this role must amplify the Head of Platform and create alignment between platform and application teams.
Strong communicator who can explain trade-offs to engineers, product, founders, and enterprise customers with equal clarity.
Startup DNA: comfortable in ambiguity, moves fast, builds from scratch, and has done 0-to-1 before.
Strongly Preferred
Experience at an AI-native, agentic AI, enterprise AI, or developer platform company.
Experience building applications on top of internal platforms, cloud platforms, workflow platforms, or AI platforms.
Deployed production systems on GCP at scale, especially using GKE, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, IAM, VPCs, and load balancers.
Experience with Kubernetes-based enterprise deployment, Helm, Terraform, ArgoCD/GitOps, network policies, secret management, and observability stacks.
Familiarity with AI safety, hallucination mitigation, prompt injection defense, grounding, citation quality, and evaluation-driven releases in agentic contexts.
Experience with MCP or similar agent-to-tool integration patterns.
Experience with enterprise clients in regulated industries such as energy, aviation, finance, government, or critical infrastructure.
Exposure to on-prem, BYOC, hybrid, or sovereign cloud deployment architectures.
Experience designing applications that must satisfy enterprise security reviews, VAPT, compliance requirements, auditability, and customer-specific deployment constraints.
Experience with document intelligence, contract intelligence, compliance workflows, or enterprise knowledge/RAG systems.
Qualifications
BE/MS/PhD in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience.
12+ years shipping and operating production product/platform systems.
Pure consulting profiles without long-term product or platform ownership are unlikely to fit.
Based in Bengaluru or Dubai, or willing to relocate to either location with five days work from office required.
What Success Looks Like
First 30 Days
Build a deep understanding of NovaOS platform capabilities, current application architecture, and active product/customer priorities.
Establish strong working rhythm with the Head of Platform, CTO, engineering managers, and application teams.
Review current architecture for key NovaOS applications and identify the highest-priority architectural risks, duplication, and gaps.
Define initial reference patterns for building applications on NovaOS, including frontend-to-agent flows, backend services, RAG/memory usage, MCP/tool access, and evaluation gates.
Help unblock at least one major application or customer-facing technical decision.
First 60 Days
Standardize application architecture patterns across major NovaOS-based products.
Reduce duplicated architecture and inconsistent implementation across product teams.
Establish clear production readiness expectations for agentic applications, including observability, evals, safety checks, tenant isolation, and deployment readiness.
Partner with the Head of Platform to turn recurring application needs into platform roadmap inputs.
Raise the technical ceiling of senior engineers through design reviews, mentoring, and reference implementations.
Become the CTO's trusted go-to person for NovaOS application development and enterprise solution architecture.
Who Will Succeed in This Role
You will succeed if you are a hands-on product architect who can move comfortably between full-stack engineering, enterprise architecture, and production AI systems.
You should be able to discuss Java/Spring Boot service boundaries in one conversation, RAG retrieval quality in another, MCP tool permissions in another, and customer deployment constraints in another — without losing sight of product velocity.
You should have strong opinions, but low ego. This role requires tight partnership with existing platform leadership. Your job is to make the platform more useful, make applications more consistent, and make the CTO confident that NovaOS-based product development is technically sound.
You are not joining to create architecture documents that nobody uses. You are joining to help teams ship better systems faster.
Who This Role Is Not For
This role is not for someone who only wants to govern from a distance.
It is not for someone who has only built AI demos, prototypes, or internal experiments.
It is not for someone who is strong in traditional SaaS but has not worked deeply with production AI/agentic systems.
It is not for someone who is strong in AI workflows but cannot design enterprise-grade full-stack systems.
It is not for someone who cannot operate in ambiguity, take ownership, and drive technical clarity across teams.
